  1.                 Thank you for trying out WRITING CHINESE!

  3.    This program teaches basic Chinese calligraphy, focusing on the 150 most
  4. frequently encountered characters which constitute approximately 1/3 of all
  5. printed materials. Just as schoolchildren do in China, the student practices 
  6. calligraphy by drawing characters on simulated "nine-square box" paper.
  7. The program evaluates each character as it is being drawn, providing 
  8. continuous feedback and positive reinforcement incentives.
  9.    This program also has quiz options to teach character meanings as well as
  10. Mandarin (Pinyin) and Cantonese (Yale) transliterations.

  12.     WRITING CHINESE is shareware, and of course, we would really appreciate 
  13. your monetary support. Registration brings with it many benefits, including a
  14. larger Chinese database and bonus programs.  Whether or not you do choose to
